Course Materials

Information for Students

As you navigate your course readings and textbooks for class, CWU Libraries has options to help students in finding the course materials you need to be successful.
  • Physical Course Reserves

Items available through physical course reserves in the CWU Libraries are materials your professors have indicated should be held for your class at the main desk. These items can be checked out for 4 hours at a time so everyone in the class has a chance to access them. Find books or materials on reserve for your course by searching for your class in OneSearch. All library course materials are available for check-out at the front desk on the library's first floor. View the instructional video on the CWU Libraries YouTube channel on how to find these materials.

  • Interlibrary Loan

This service allows for the request of materials from other libraries for instances where we don’t own that item, or it is already checked out. In searching for items in OneSearch you may find other titles not owned by CWU Libraries. By signing into your library account, you can request these items from other libraries. Check out the borrow and request page for more information.

  • Purchase Course Materials

If you’re looking for where to purchase course materials, you can find the textbooks you need through the CWU Wildcat Shop.

Information for Faculty

Physical course reserves are items made available to students through the CWU Libraries. These are instructor-selected materials and faculty may request to have course materials held at our service desk for short-term checkout. Complete a course reserve request form or visit the library in person to request physical reserves for your course.

If you would like to place an item on reserve that is neither personally owned or in the libraries’ collection, you may submit a Recommend a Purchase form. Please be aware that purchases of physical materials may take up to 3 months. Purchases of electronic materials are typically processed more quickly, though they may be more difficult to acquire.
